I rescued a baby chestnut-backed chickadee that had fallen from its nest. It couldn’t have been more than two or three days old. I searched for the nest, but couldn’t find it, so I took the chick home and raised it. I named it “Tweety Beep” after the sound they make. He imprinted on me, regularly alighting on my head or on my shoulder. After he fledged and I thought he was ready, I took him out to the woods and let him go.  I hope he went on to have a beautiful life … and to help his mate build a much safer nest than his own parents did!
